Experiments Across Realities

Project: S.H.E.L.T.A

Type: Sketch Concept Animation

Credit: Draw And Code

Software Used: Blender, Premiere Pro

Description: For the therapy space in S.H.E.L.T.A, I used my knowledge from my Masters Syndestry Project to craft a space that would allow therapy to be open to the users of the application. This was achieved by creating a sightline from the main space of the island to where the therapist would be located, however within the cave like structure where the participant would be located would be private to everyone else. This created a dynamic that was able to make therapy approachable to all while still offering the sanctuary of privacy to those who needed it. While this animation is what I term a “sketch” this approach has allowed me to quickly convey to internal teams and clients what we want to communicate with a project, while also improving my 3D skills so that more refined Animation work of mine can now be seen in the Immersive Innovation Hub.

Project: Tiny House Concept

Type: Twinmotion Virtual Reality

Credit: N/A

Software Used: Revit, Twinmotion

Description: Myself and my partner drafted a sketch scheme for a tiny house in London as a design challenge to one another. With the tight restrictions of the space, I wanted to create a way to visualise what it would be like to dwell in this space. With the integration of Revit and Twinmotion I was able to turn concept into reality to be able to critique the space we designed, for instance the stairs meeting the standard regulations as they do in this rendition would not work effieciently for the space and so they would have to be reconsidered. I have used designing in Virtual Reality on multiple projects using Blender and Unity as my mediums instead of Twinmotion.

Project: Year One Masters Of Architecture

Type: Live Action / Animated Film

Credit: N/A

Software Used: Maya, GreenScreen, Premiere Pro

Description: In the first year of my Masters of Architecture course, I was enrolled in a program that focussed on the relationship of Architecture, film and other mediums. For my project that was based on creating a market for local artists to sell their wares, I created this film to help sell the concept. The film was produced by creating digital backgrounds with Maya and then filming live actors on a greenscreen to superimpose on top of the sets. I enjoyed this mixture of the digital and the real combined into one, and this helped to spark my imagination when it came to augmented reality products as well.

Project: Various Augmented Reality Experiences

Type: Augmented Reality Applications

Credit: N/A

Software Used: Unity, Vuforia, Blender, Niantic Lightship, Meta Spark

Description: With my current role as well as my interest in the intersection between the physical and virtual worlds, I have been creating augmented reality experiences. This has given me a greater understanding of the medium, how the applications work and provided me with a platform to be able to design with conviction for these spaces and comment on any work that we may be doing within the space in order to reach the best design possible.

Project: Architectural Film Compendium

Type: Various Film Mediums

Credit: N/A

Software Used: Unity, Vuforia, Blender, Maya, Premiere Pro

Description: The following is a compilation of all of the films that I have created during my architectural education and includes sectional studies, documentaries and animations to name a few.

Project Types: Commercial / Personal

Timeline: 2014 - Present

Role: Experimentor

Since starting university I have become fascinated with the connection between the physical and virtual worlds. I have therefore become literate in creating virtual and augmented reality experiences as well as 3D animations to communicate this fascination. Below are some examples of the projects I have created from this exploration.
